If you look at the tracking project’s numbers for Massachusetts, there were ZERO reported new cases for April 21st. How can this be? We were on a downward trend and seeing ~1,600–1,700 new cases a day for a week now yet suddenly zero? But then for the 22nd there are 3,000+ new cases. So we went from 1,600–1,700 to 0 to 3,000+ all in 3 days?

Almost assuredly what happened was that Massachusetts was still logging cases internally during that three day span, and then only got around to updating the “total cases” and “total confirmed cases” on their website on the 22nd, and that spike should have been spread out among the days with no new cases.
