You’re clearly introspective, and if you have the time I would greatly value your thoughts on the entire series of gun articles I put together a few months ago, of which this is just the opening salvo. I do think there are problems, and I do think there are what I’d consider to be obvious solutions to those problems. But the solutions in my mind only arise from looking in a detailed way at the numbers, identifying the problems numerically, striking off of our list anything that’s either impossible or ineffective at addressing the specific problems we’ve identified, and then attacking the true roots of these problems.

I feel as if the media is not leading us down this path at all. They are leading us down a path of arguing, because arguing creates social media secondary sharing and secondary sharing generates revenue for them. (I think the NYT article suffers from that)
