Don’t hate the player, hate the game.
:)
Everybody has a schtick. His schtick is very effective. I do not align with him ideologically on most things, although I do probably ideologically align with his soothsaying of an impending doomsday. I will say this in his defense, despite our ideological disagreements: If I did align ideologically with him, I’d still see no problem with him making money off of that ideology, given he is in fact in a capitalist system, so he’s playing the game as written.
I’ll also say this. If I compare the rate of real dollar return of my engagement with what I see from the outside looking at his rate of engagement, he may be making as much money writing as I make engineering. And that’s pretty tough for a freelance writer.
I’ve even considered brewing up an alias and writing the sorts of stuff he’s writing, just to see how much money I could make. Sort of a James Lindsey For Profit concept. (tagging Areo Magazine for fun) But in the end, I think that might drive me batty.
