In my opinion we have created some kind of gun culture here in the US…A kind of mentality, or mental psychosis just from owning a gun in the United States.
I don’t think it’s a psychosis at all. It may be the exact opposite. Consider the following:
40% of the guns in the world are in the hands of private US citizens.
That means 60% are in the hands of foreign citizens and world governments.
How many deaths by bullet have there been in the last century? Quite a lot. Two world wars, numerous other wars, dozens of genocides, and lots of crime all add to that total. All deaths by gun.
When you do that math (I may do this for a future article) it’s easy to see that the safest possible place for a gun to be, in terms of whether that gun will kill someone or not, is in the hands of a private US citizen.
