So you do not think the pro-firearm/R-wing media has not also purposely distorted their play on firearms? What about the ridiculous, oft-repeated legend of “good guy with a gun”?

I don’t think that’s necessarily ridiculous, because in any case where something like a mass shooting is thwarted, it never happens, and if it never happens it never gets covered in the media. The studies on Defensive Gun Use are really quite spectacular. I haven’t bothered to highlight those, though, because quite honestly I don’t think I need to.

I haven’t even begun to list the extremes like Alex Jones, InfoWars, Rush Limbaugh, Fox News, Breitbart…while I am at it, for transparency & completeness I cannot omit the militant, fear-mongering of the ChristoFascist crowd of “loving christians”.

I’m not right wing, and I don’t think guns should be a culture war issue at all.

In fact, you may be surprised to find out that I was invited to be interviewed on Breitbart News on SiriusXM Patriot last week, in a world wide broadcast, and turned it down flat. I couldn’t be sure they wouldn’t spin my appearance into a culture war hit job.

That’s happened to me before, by the way. I wrote an entire article debunking an article that quite honestly drove me a lot of traffic. Here’s the article:

So yeah, don’t think I’m friendly to that crowd. The only time I’ve intentionally gone after a specific writer was Kurt at Townhall, and he referenced my work glowingly. I went after him anyway.

So your overall drive that I’m ignoring bad behavior on the right doesn’t hold water.

It is also a common twist [distracting ploy] for the Right to attempt to diminish the impact of firearms related fatalities by pointing out the fact that approx 2/3rds of them are suicides. If I may share a secret: they are still dead, still dead via a firearm & it is still a problem that needs to be addressed. They are human beings — someone’s child, brother, sister, husband, wife, child and their deaths count too.

Do not respond with tripe about the “2nd Amendment”.

I’m the only gun writer in existence, to my knowledge, who has never referenced the 2nd Amendment at all, and in doing so was also as high as the #3 overall writer on the Politics rankings for Medium last year, without ever mentioning the word “Trump.”

So again, I think you might be barking up the wrong tree here sir.
