I have an honest question that I hope you might help me answer. You seem well versed in the topic of postmodernism, and appear to allude at least in part to the bruhaha over the topic invoked by certain modern popular thinkers such as Jordan Peterson, as espoused here:
A very common response in the intellectual tendrils of the internet about this video, and further about JP’s characterizations of postmodernism, is that what he’s talking about isn’t actually postmodernism at all. You seem to allude, at least in part, to holding that view in your article. Which is fine and I don’t pretend to know enough to argue the point.
So my question is this: If what he’s referring to isn’t postmodernism, then what exactly is it that he’s referring to? What would be a better word for what he’s describing? Would “Critical Theory” fit what he’s talking about? Something else?
Thank you in advance for your time.
