I thought this article was beautiful, and shared it with some folks who might agree. I do think there’s something that might be missing here, though.

The connection between thermo and information theory was a new one to me, but apparently discussed by others and has some interesting qualities. Extending that to brain interaction seems like a logical conclusion.

One thing I think this discussion misses, is chaos theory. The reason thermo works at a macro level when predicting the movement of molecules is so difficult, is because the interactions of the molecules all basically even out over time. There is no butterfly effect for atoms in gasses. It would seem to me that with complex systems such as the brain, the interactions don’t even out, and there is a butterfly effect we might see where one neuron firing one way instead of another way can influence the entire brain wave, and that this may be the nexus from which creativity and free will emerge.
