It does. I grinded on that language a bit when writing it, and figured I’d leave the ominous sounding bit in just to make people think.

On your other point, I absolutely do not in any way think that the USA is comparable to Australia. It’s not an honest comparison, most particularly because Australia is full of Australians, and the United States is full of a lot of very different people from a lot of very different places. And also guns.

Something a lot of foreigners don’t seem to understand is that the USA has so many more guns than it could possibly ever use in crime that if we magically got rid of half our guns (you got rid of less than half with your Australian buyback btw) we’d still have tremendously more guns than anyone else. At some point having more guns simply doesn’t matter. We could double the number of guns here and crime wouldn’t change at all.
