I agree with you 100% that we shouldn’t dismiss suicide. Suicide is tremendously important. But we also shouldn’t lie about the data. Left of center media sources are using the positive correlation between suicide and gun ownership to manufacture a public impression that there is a positive correlation between homicide and gun ownership when that simply isn’t the case. They are perpetually lying with data, and when other media figures, or bloggers such as yourself, repost those charts as if they’re indicative of homicide rates, they (you) exacerbate the problem.
I don’t blame you for falling into this trap. I know a lot of very smart people who are falling into this trap on the left. I try to explain the trap more, here:
