Since he’s such a controversial public figure, I feel compelled to say I agree with a bunch but not all of what he has to say…

Same.

When he gets out around the edges of his knowledge pool he makes some poor inferences. Like the Pareto Distribution thing. “20% of the people get 80% of the stuff” is not a fixed quantity in Pareto Distributions, you can monkey with the coefficients of them to play out any sort of ratio you like. He latches onto that as if there’s some kind of magic to it, when there’s not.

I think his main lure, when it comes to traffic, is that he’s providing an alternate indoctrination path to traditional value sets, and people are looking for that as religion continues to weaken as an indoctrination path. I wrote a bit about that here:

And I find myself on the outs with mainstream culture, to believe that we shouldn’t settle for “I’m only human please accept my glaring inadequacies that I do nothing about and love me anyway”.

Same.

I didn’t used to think much about this, though, until I dipped my toe into the concept of modern dating. Yikes. Shit has certainly changed since 1999.
