Fox peddles anxiety. They may in fact have been a primary force in the rise of anxiety peddling. There is no way anyone objective can disagree with that fact, in my opinion.

That is not a data driven opinion on my part, because building the data to establish that is a task I don’t intend to undertake. Too time intensive. I just want to start with a position of clear agreement, before we go forward.

I completely disagree with your assessment that irresponsible journalism is “nearly all” on the right. The first article in the series draws a bullseye around Vox and Mother Jones, as a penultimate example within the bounds of this topic, which is guns. The second and third articles buttress this point. If we isolate our bounds as being (gun policy) then the NYT peddles a lot of garbage for clicks as well. But when we widen the bounds of the discussion, the Blue Church does this sort of thing all the time. It’s just not easily noticeable to people within the Church, when they’re doing it.

Take, for instance, their approach to Charles Murray, Sam Harris, Jordan Peterson, and such. The Blue Church’s approach, which is purely click driven, leads to things like Bret Weinstein having to flee his own college campus in fear of his own personal safety, purely for the crime of teaching evolutionary biology. Mistreating these sorts of intellectuals when they present intellectual topics is a tremendous problem on the left, and is fundamentally feeding the rise of the left’s war on free speech on campuses, which undermines one of the greatest tenants of modern liberalism.

I’m still trying to figure out why they’re doing it, and it’s something I may want to elaborate on in a future article.
