The very short version is this: even if you throw the US out, and just look at other “first world” nations by any objective measure, there’s still no bivariate correlation between gun proliferation and gun homicide. This article shows that, and also talks about why, and also talks about why comparisons to other countries literally don’t matter. The US is an apple and the rest of the world are very different flavors of oranges.
