That said, the biggest bang for your buck in addressing gun deaths in the USA is to address male suicide, because gun deaths are dominated by male suicide.
If someone is seeking treatment for suicidal thoughts, then they are already doing something rational by seeking treatment, and stereotyping them as irrational in an effort to ignore their problem is not helpful.
