Compared to the sorts of stuff you do, this is probably mostly “back of the envelope” level stuff. I’m a hydrologist by trade, so I know what I’ve done here is less rigorous than what I do professionally with rainfall and runoff data. It just really frustrates me that the level of data being presented by the major media sources is not only back of the envelope, it’s intentionally misleading, and used to drive a really twisted narrative. Check the second article out if you get a chance — what’s really going on here is pretty evil. They’re basically building their case for seizing semi-auto rifles on top of a pile of bodies of dead professional aged men who shot themselves from depression and work stress.
