It warms my heart to see so many scientific, data driven rebuttals in the comment section. The problem with the Democratic plans, is that they ignore the most important facts, which are these: (from the article)
But these shootings that make global headlines — like those in Parkland or Las Vegas or Sutherland Springs — account for a tiny fraction of American gun deaths. Handguns, not assault-style rifles, are responsible for the vast majority of deadly shootings. Roughly two-thirds of all gun deaths are suicides. And the victims of gun homicides are disproportionately young black men.
Thank you for starting out with those. Those are important. It would have been nice to point out that none of the proposals on the D platform will significantly affect those.
