Well, I did a seven article series on Medium on this topic, which identified every statistical distraction (including most particularly the “guns per capita” distraction, as well as the “homicide epidemic!” distraction), systematically debunked them all, and developed a numbers based solution based on the actual statistics. So I wouldn’t call it “ignoring” at all. Give it a read if you’re interested. Or don’t, it’s a free country.
