There's another thing worth mentioning as well, which is many of the other comorbidities on the list are relatively common in extremely old, extremely unhealthy, or extremely unhealthy old people. Things like type 2 diabetes or obesity, which themselves are a rampant epidemic here in the USA. We should expect from our obesity epidemic alone to see 40% "comorbidities" purely from that, even if Covid didn't overtly affect obese people, which it does. So the "4%" number shouldn't be surprising to anyone.
